Buy Used Cars
Do not want to spend a fortune on a new set of wheels, but also do not want to compromise on your brand and model preferences? Do not worry, we understand. Cars do not come cheap, and if you have to spend months (even years) saving for a car, only to end up with one you do not really love/want, it can become quite a despondent activity. If you feel trapped and out of options, we would like to bring something to your attention. When you buy used cars from a dealership, you can cut back on costs and get the car of your dreams without having to stretch your budget or beg, borrow, and steal to afford it.
When you buy used cars from private sellers, the risk is undoubtedly high, but when you buy from a dealership, the risks are minimised. Why is that? Are all private sellers untrustworthy? Are all private cars on offer really lemons? No. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell a trustworthy seller from an untrustworthy one. And at the end of the day, it comes down to more than just the legitimacy of the car’s stated condition when making a decision. When buying a second-hand car, it also comes down to recourse. This refers to what course of action you can take if the car you buy breaks down in a few days or a few weeks, due to a hidden problem.
When You Buy Used Cars Privately…
Used cars sold privately are usually sold on an “as is” basis. What does that mean? It means that you purchase the car in its current condition and are solely responsible for its maintenance from the moment you take possession of it. If a part breaks or the car malfunctions, or even if the paint starts to bubble and peel a few days after purchase, you cannot return the vehicle to the previous owner. It is also your own responsibility to arrange finance and ensure that the vehicle is transferred to your name.
When You Buy Used Cars at a Dealership…
Used cars sold at a dealership usually come with a warranty/guarantee attached. The vehicle has gone through stringent tests, and the results thereof are available to you. Before you take possession of the car, it is usually serviced and professionally cleaned. If the car happens to break down or present problems after you have purchased it, you can return it for repairs. You can also expect the dealership to provide you with assistance getting finance from leading banks including ABSA, Nedbank, Standard Bank, and FNB.
It is fairly obvious that purchasing your next car from a dealership is more beneficial to you, both short-term and long-term.
